DRAFT — Pending Legal Review
This privacy policy is a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel. Legal review is currently deferred and will be handled independently by the owner. This page reflects the site's current behavior and may change as launch workflows are finalized. Last updated: April 2026.
Privacy Policy
Organization: Distributed Creatives
Website: savethecreators.org
This draft describes the public site as it exists today plus a small number of launch-state workflows that are still being implemented. Where a system is planned but not yet active, we say so explicitly.
1. What Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the Save The Creators platform:
- Email address — Provided when you sign the Declaration for Creators, join the movement, subscribe for updates, or contact us directly.
- Name and discipline — Provided if you choose to include them when signing the Declaration for Creators.
- Information you send us directly — The contents of emails, form submissions, or other messages you choose to send.
- Consent metadata — When a live form handler is configured, we record whether you acknowledged this privacy policy, whether you requested newsletter updates, the form surface used, and the submission timestamp.
- Anonymous usage data — Page views and basic technical request data processed through our hosting, security, and privacy-respecting analytics infrastructure.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Email address — To send movement updates, advocacy news, and information about Save The Creators initiatives when you explicitly opt into those updates. To confirm Declaration signatures or other requests you submit through the site.
- Name and discipline — To identify declaration signers in our records and, only if a public signatory display is launched later, to support any explicit public-display opt-in attached to that future workflow.
- Information you send us directly — To respond to questions, privacy requests, and other messages you choose to send us.
- Consent metadata — To prove the basis on which a signup or declaration request was submitted and to honor unsubscribe or deletion requests accurately.
- Usage data — To keep the site secure, understand performance issues, and improve the experience using privacy-respecting methods.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
3. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Cloudflare — Hosting, CDN, and security services. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata for security and performance purposes.
- Resend — Used for declaration notifications, welcome emails, and newsletter audience management in environments where the required email credentials are configured. If a given environment is not configured, the site says so explicitly and does not submit the form to Resend.
- Plausible Analytics — We use Plausible for cookie-free, privacy-respecting analytics. Plausible helps us measure page views and high-level interaction events such as CTA clicks and form-submit intent without building advertising profiles or storing tracking cookies.
4. Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies for analytics. Plausible Analytics is configured in a cookie-free mode. If we introduce cookies in the future for authenticated features or other workflows, this policy will be updated before those changes go live.
5. Data Retention
We retain signup and contact information only as long as needed to manage your participation, respond to your request, or maintain our records. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. We aim to respond to deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion — Request deletion of your personal data.
- Unsubscribe — Opt out of email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or the dedicated unsubscribe form attached to our email workflow.
- Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format.
We honor these rights regardless of your jurisdiction. We aim to respond to all requests within 30 days.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
8. Children's Privacy
Save The Creators is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via email if you are a subscriber.
